HLN are reporting that Dortmund are the latest side interested in signing Antwerp teenager Artur Vermeeren. The side were initially put off by the price tag that Antwerp have placed on their prize asset. The defending Belgian champions are looking to receive at least €30m for the 18-year-old. Dortmund are not the only side who are monitoring the progress of Vermeeren. Both Barcelona and Manchester United have been showing interest in signing him.
For Vermeeren, the 2022/2023 season was his breakout year, but it did not happen without a bit of luck. Injuries in central midfielder meant that he suddenly found himself starting games before many anticipated. However, his performances were so impressive that Mark van Bommel kept him in the side. The teenager made 20 appearances for Antwerp in the regular season, starting 18 times. During the play-offs he started all six games, scoring a decisive goal to open his account for the club as they won their first title since 1957. So far he has started all eight games this season, grabbing one assist.
