Ajax will be without Steven Berghuis for Wednesdayโs Champions League clash against Inter. Manager John Heitinga said at his press conference that the attacker is not fit enough.
Itโs not entirely clear what exactly is wrong with Berghuis. It is believed that he may have picked up a knock in last weekendโs match against PEC Zwolle and will now also miss Wednesdayโs match against the Nerrazzurri.
โHeโs not fit enough, heโs not in the squad. He has some muscle problems. I would have liked to have him in, but he wonโt make it through this match,โ Heitinga said on Tuesday afternoon. โHe brings a certain creativity to his game, so someone else needs to fill that. We all have to try and absorb that.โ
Raรบl Moro or Oliver Edvardsen will replace Berghuis. Whether Berghuis will make it to PSV remains to be seen.
Ajax opens their Champions League campaign at home against Inter on Wednesday evening. Heitinga is looking forward to it, but also emphasised that Inter are a tough opponent.
