AS Roma are on the verge of signing Ajax defender Devyne Rensch. The Serie A side have already reached a full agreement for the 22-year-old and an announcement is expected soon. Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Netherlands international will undergo medical tests on Wednesday.
Ajax were reluctant to sell Devyne Rensch this month, but with six months remaining on his current contract and no sign of an extension, the Amsterdam club opted to sell and therefore receive a fee. Roma will pay around €6m including add-ons.
This season Rensch has featured 26 times across all competitions, solidifying his place as Ajax’s first-choice right-back under Farioli. The club are reportedly set to re-sign Youri Regeer from FC Twente to fill the void left in defence. Ajax are triggering a buy-back clause included in Regeer’s current contract. The 21-year-old has already agreed personal terms and is likely to be available for Ajax’s next Eredivisie clash. De Klassieker on February 2.
