Danny Blind set for a return to Ajax’s supervisory board

Ajax have officially announced that Danny Blind is on the verge of returning to the club’s supervisory board. The 62-year-old former Netherlands international will be nominated as a new member of the supervisory board at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders.

Danny Blind won five league titles, three KNVB cups and the Champions League, among other awards during his time as a player for Ajax. The 42-time former Netherlands international filled several technical and managerial roles at the club following his retirement in 1999. Blind was also a member of the supervisory board between 2018 and 2021, but stepped down when he went to the World Cup in Qatar as an assistant to Louis van Gaal, who was manager of the Netherlands national team at the time.

Now, Van Gaal and Blind will meet again at Ajax. The former Manchester United manager recently returned to Amsterdam as a technical advisor and then quickly contacted his former assistant. On the pitch, Ajax are currently in a crisis. The Dutch giants are currently 17th in the Eredivisie table having won just one of their opening seven matches. Now, there’s a call for even more Ajax-DNA at the top of the organisation. Danny Blind’s contract is set to run until at least 2027.
