According to Voetbalkrant, Ajax’s experienced defender Daley Blind may cross the border to link with with Marc Overmars at Antwerp in the near future. Blind is not a consistent first team player at the Dutch side, so could be looking to move on as he is in the twilight of his career.
Ajax’s former sporting director Marc Overmars is the current Antwerp sporting director, which has fuelled the rumour that Blind could move to the Belgian side. Antwerp have signed a number of high profile experienced internationals in recent years, with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Radja Nainggolan and Vincent Janssen joining the club.
Antwerp are currently third in the Pro League, 11 points behind leaders Genk despite a strong start to the season. The Great Old only lost their first game in October, but have struggled for consistency since. Prior to the break for the World Cup, the side had only won one of their previous five matches.
