Daan Dierckx extends his contract with Standard Liège

The 22-year-old defender has signed a new contract with Les Rouches until June 2028, as confirmed by a club statement on Twitter on Thursday afternoon. Having joined the senior squad this campaign, the youngster has made eight appearances for Liège this season, including in their most recent match, where they lost 1-0 to Chaerloi at the Stade de Sclessin. The defender has spent time on loan at Parma and in Genk’s youth system, before being picked up by SL 16.

According to Fotmob, Dierckx has won 77.8% of his tackles, and has won 50% of his arial duels and his ground duels.

As Dierckx hopes to break into the starting line-up consistently next season, his side are in desperate need of defensive solidity. Les Rouches have kept just three clean sheets in their 17 matches in 2025, and sit rock bottom of the Conference League play-off group. Standard Liège are now winless in their last 27 play-off matches, and will be hoping to count on Dierckx’s development if they are to end this barren run.
