Cypriot side Apollon Limassol set to consider appointing former Liverpool and Feyenoord winger as new head coach

According to Voetbal International, Apollon Limassol will consider appointing Dirk Kuyt as their new head coach. The former Liverpool, Feyenoord and Fenerbahçe forward last managed Dutch second tier side ADO Den Haag, where he failed to achieve their target of gaining promotion back to the Eredivisie.

Apollon Limassol are currently seventh in the Cypriot first division. The four-time champions of Cyprus are ten points off top spot after fourteen matches. Sources in Cyprus say that Dirk Kuyt and Roy Makaay are in the picture to take over at the club, but a desicion has not yet been made.

Dirk Kuyt’s managerial CV includes an assistant role with Dutch amateur side Quick Boys, head coach of Feyenoord U19’s and manager of ADO Den Haag. The 104-time Netherlands international could soon be in Cyprus managing Apollon Limassol. Dutch goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh currently plays for the club following his two season’s with FC Groningen.
