Coventry City are close to completing the signing of the talented right-back Milan van Ewijk, according to Voetbal International. The 22-year-old currently plays for Heerenveen, who finished eighth in the Eredivisie last season. Coventry have agreed a fee worth more than €4m with the Dutch side. The fee may also include bonuses and a resale percentage.
Milan van Ewijk joined Heerenveen from ADO Den Haag in the summer of 2021 for just €500,000. Now, he’s set to leave for nearly 10 times that amount. Last season the Dutchman featured 36 times in the league, scoring six times and providing one assist. Van Ewijk is second on the list for the highest speed reached in the Eredivisie last season, hitting a top speed of 34.8 km/h.
The defender is a fantastic talent, who has attracted interest from several top sides. PSV, Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon have previously been keen on the eight-time Netherlands U21 international. Now, a move to the Championship is on the horizon for Van Ewijk. Coventry City are looking to bounce back from their Championship playoff final defeat in May, and the Sky Blues will be hoping that this possible new signing can help them reach the riches of the Premier League.
