Could OH Leuven be impacted by Leicester’s sponsor’s surprise bankruptcy?

Leicester fans are frustrated and concerned after it was revealed that the sides main shirt sponsor, BC.Game, has been declared bankrupt. The company only signed a deal four months ago and many are questioning the due diligence done by the club in the deal. In Belgium, this will raise questions about what impact it will have on the sides sister club OH Leuven.

Over the past few years, OH Leuven have made a loss. Yet, the owners of Leicester have stated that they are okay with this as they want to remain invested in the club. However, this may change if there are financial problems back ‘at home’. The side have flattered to deceive in recent years, despite investment in the playing staff. Big signings haven’t come off and the club have been searching for a permanent striker since the departure of Thomas Henry to Serie A a few seasons ago.

Under Oscar Garcia, the side are struggling in the league. They sit in the bottom four with just three wins in 14 games. Should they finish the season there, they would face the relegation play offs where two sides go down. Given that last season the side only avoided finishing in these positions with a late goal, fans are concerned about the similar pattern this season is following. If Leicester ever decided to pull the plug, or reduce their investment, the side could face a real problem. Eyes will be on developments in England over the next few weeks to see if there are any indications about how this will impact OH Leuven going forward, if at all.
