Couhaib Driouech reflects on โ€˜boyhood dreamโ€™ after Champions League double against Liverpool

PSV heaped more misery on former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as they hammered Liverpool 4-1 away from home in the Champions League. With the game at 2-1, Peter Bosz introduced former Excelsior winger Couhaib Driouech in the 69th minute. Just a few minutes later, the winger struck to make it 3-1, before helping himself to a second in the 91st minute to cap an impressive 20 minute display.

Speaking after the game to the press, Driouech was pinching himself after what had just happened. The 23-year-old Moroccan winger said โ€˜Itโ€™s a boyhood dream. And it came true todayโ€™. It wasnโ€™t just scoring in the Champions League that had Drouech in dreamland, it was doing it against Liverpool at the famous Anfield. The PSV winger went on to say โ€˜The atmosphere in the dressing room was fantastic. If you win 4-1 hereโ€ฆ No one would have dared to say that before the match. But it really is, and then you can celebrateโ€™.

PSVโ€™s huge victory over Liverpool in the Champions League just adds to an incredible run of form for the side. They lost their opening game of the competition at home to Union St Gilloise but have since gone unbeaten and now sit 15th in the League Phase. They are just one point behind Liverpool who are in 13th.

Domestically, PSV have regained top spot from Feyenoord and are starting to build a bit of a lead over Slotโ€™s former side, now under the management of Robin van Persie. With 13 games gone PSV have opened up a six point gap at the top of the Eredivisie.
