Concern for Kortrijk as talisman Faiz Selemani could be out for the season

Relegation threatened Kortrijk have been dealt a major blow as they wait to hear the extent of Comoros international Faiz Selemani’s injury. As reported by VP, the club are currently awaiting a scan to see the damage, but there is fear within Kortrijk that he may not feature again this season, as Bernd Storck expects him to be out for a few weeks.

Despite continues links to move on from the club, Selemani had recently stated he wanted to stay at the club till the end of the season to help them remain in the league. The winger, who was part of the Comoros side who made their first ever AFCON in Cameroon last season, has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 24 matches this season. For context, this means he is the sides top scorer and top provider. Their chances of survival have taken a real blow with this news.

The injury came during a 3-1 defeat to Westerlo, which see’s the side drop down to 15th in the table, just three points ahead of Oostende. Kortrijk have now lost two in a row and are winless in four, while Oostende have gone unbeaten in the last two as they appear to be turning the corner.
