Cody Gakpo’s management offered him to Ajax

Cody Gakpo’s management offered him to Ajax when they lost Antony to Manchester United.

Gakpo and Antony were both subject to interest from Man Utd this summer, with the British club eventually opting to sign only the latter.

Even after that though, Gakpo – who has revealed that he thought he was joining Man Utd – continued to be linked with a move away from PSV, and it has now been reported by De Telegraaf that his management offered him to Ajax.

The Eredivisie champions were searching for an Antony replacement at the time, but ultimately opted against trying to sign Gakpo and got Lucas Ocampos instead.

Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad has stated that, even if they had, Gakpo wouldn’t be interested and PSV would never had sold him to their rivals.

He ultimately ended up staying put and is now likely to sign a new contract in the coming days.
