Cody Gakpo says “PSV will always be my club” in farewell message

Liverpool’s latest signing Cody Gakpo has sent a farewell message to PSV Eindhoven and the club’s fans, De Telegraaf reports.

The 23-year-old completed his move to Anfield for a fee in the region of £45 million with the Reds beating arch-rivals Manchester United to the highly-rated winger.

Gakpo has been at the club’s academy since he was eight-years-old, progressing through all the youth teams before making his professional debut in February 2018 against Feyenoord.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the years you have supported us and me. I have of course been here for a very long time with great pleasure. It really is my second home,” said the Oranje international. 

“I am really happy with all the support I have received in recent years during all the good and also the lesser moments. I will forever be grateful to you. PSV will always be my club.”

Gakpo leaves PSV as the Eredivisie’s joint-top goal scorer with nine goals and top assist provider with 12.
