Cody Gakpo named in Liverpool’s starting lineup in FA Cup clash against Wolves

Cody Gakpo will make his debut for his new club after Jurgen Klopp named in the starting lineup for Liverpool in the FA Cup third round clash against Wolves, the club has announced on Twitter.

The Dutch international, who finished the 2022 World Cup with three goals, completed the move to the Premier League side in December subject to work permit being completed.

The paperwork to complete the transfer meant Gakpo’s debut had to be delayed, much to Klopp’s frustration ahead of their league match against Brentford.

Liverpool start the season as the FA Cup holders and start their defence with a strong starting XI with Gakpo set to start on the left-wing alongside Mohammed Salah and Darwin Nunez in the front three.

The former PSV Eindhoven player will be supporting Fabinho, Thiago and captain Jordan Henderson in the midfielder with Andy Robertson supporting Gakpo from left-back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate complete the back four while Alisson starts in goal.
