Cody Gakpo hoping to join Southampton as PSV consider offer and identify replacement

Cody Gakpo wants to join Southampton, and his current club are currently deciding whether to let him go, but they have lined up a replacement already in Dynamo Kyiv’s Viktor Tsygankov.

While he hasn’t gone on strike as Antony did at Ajax, Gakpo has made it clear that he’d like to leave to play in the Premier league before the end of the transfer window.

While various clubs have been interested in him, Southampton have now become the most likely destination with their interest being the most concrete.

They’ve offered to pay €35m for the Dutchman, which is €15m less than PSV had hoped to get for him, and according to Eindhovens Dagblad, they’re undecided on whether they’ll let him go for that price or any other.

While they make a decision, they’ve identified Viktor Tsygankov of Dynamo Kyiv as a potential replacement, and such a deal could be made easier by the fact that he and Gakpo have the same agent.
