Club Brugge’s Ruud Vormer turns down to KV Mechelen, could move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia

Club Brugge veteran Ruud Vormer has turned down the chance to join KV Mechelen and is subject to interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The Pro League champions have been keen to offload Vormer all summer due to his high salary, willing to let him leave on a free transfer.

He has been most heavily linked with Belgian and Dutch clubs, with multiple Pro League sides as well as Vitesse, Utrecht and Groningen interested.

However, for whatever reasons, a move to his homeland didn’t transpire before the Dutch transfer window closed, and it has now been revealed that he has rejected the chance to join another Pro League side.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, KV Mechelen wanted to sign the midfielder but he turned them down, preferring to either stay put or join a more “exotic” club.

The publication also report that talks are being held with an unnamed Turkish club, while there is also concrete interest from Saudi Arabia.
