Club Brugge youth prospect Arne Engels to join Augsburg

The Augsburger Allgemeine are reporting that Club Brugge youth prospect Arne Engels will join Bundesliga side Augsburg in January. The 19 year-old has been playing for Club NXT, the Club Brugge second team in the Challenger Pro League. In 15 appearances Engels has scored two goals and provided six assists.

The 19 year-old Belgian youth international began his career with Gent before moving the Club Brugge. Engels can play wide right or in the centre of midfield. His contract is due to expire at the end of the 2023 season.

Club Brugge are currently searching for a new head coach after Carl Hoefkens was dismissed following a 1-1 draw with OH Leuven. This came after a 4-1 defeat in the cup at home to Sint-Truiden. Scott Parker is one name that has been linked with the vacancy. The side are currently fourth in the Belgian Pro League, 12 points off leaders Genk. They will face Benfica in the next round of the Champions League.
