Club Brugge v Fiorentina Preview | Belgian league leaders looking for first home win over Italian opposition in 45 years to make the Conference League final

Club Brugge go into the return leg of their Europe Conference League semi-final against Italian side Fiorentina with every chance of making the final. After a 3-2 defeat away from home, the side are looking to beat Italian opposition in Brugge for the first time in 45 years. Fiorentina took the lead late in the first-leg, with 10 man Club almost escaping Tuscany with a draw.

Club approached the first-leg pragmatically, looking to soak up pressure and hit Fiorentina with direct balls over the top to striker Thiago. This should change at home, with Club looking to control the ball more. Simon Mignolet will be back in goal after an injury to stand in keeper Nordin Jackers, who has played well in recent weeks. Maxim De Cuyper should also come in to give some attacking threat from left-back, while Hugo Vetlesen will be needed in the central areas. Club will be missing Raphael Onyedika through suspension, having picked up two needless yellow cards in quick succession during the first leg.

Fiorentina come into the tie off the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Hellas Verona at the weekend. The side have lost eight of their 17 away matches in Serie A this season. In Europe, they have not lost away from home in the competition since the qualifier against Rapid Wien.
