Club Brugge showing interest in bringing former Everton and Manchester United veteran midfielder back to Europe

According to LDH, Club Brugge are showing interest in veteran Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini. The former Everton and Manchester United midfielder is currently a free agent having left Chinese side Shandong Taishan. The now 36-year-old is also garnering interest from a number of sides in the Middle-East alongside Club Brugge. Just a few months ago, in an interview with the paper, the midfielder had said that he was not looking to retire soon and believed he would have at least on offer to return to playing in Europe.

Fellaini began his career with Standard Liege, where he made 35 appearances and scored three goals. His form for Standard between 2006 and 2008 earned him a move to Everton, where he would play some of the best football of his career. He scored 33 goals in 176 games, with David Moyes bringing him to Manchester United when he replaced the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. During his time at United the midfielder, who also operated as a striker at times, was much maligned, but still produced excellent numbers. In 177 games for the side he scored 22 goals.

In 2019 the midfielder left Europe for China and joined Shandong. He made 141 appearances for the Chinese side and continued to find the net with 41 goals. At international level, Fellaini was capped 87 times by the Red Devils and has 18 international goals to his name.
