HLN are reporting that Club Brugge are in discussions with Cole Campbell. The teenage winger currently plays for Borussia Dortmund but, according to the paper, is looking to leave the club in the near future. Talks have already been held with the players representatives and Club Brugge are hoping that they can secure the signing of the young American winger this January.
Club Brugge have been one of the best sides in Belgium at converting young talent into realised talent and then selling for a big price. This will surely be a factor in Campbellโs decision, as game time with Club Brugge can lead to moves to Serie A or even the Premier League. So far, the 19-year-old has played seven games for the Borussia Dortmund first team, with much of his playing time coming with the sides second team. Prior to joining Borussia Dortmund, Campbell spent time in Icelandic football with Breidablik and FH Hafnarfjordur.
While there are a number of talented wingers at Club Brugge already, the chances of featuring in the first team are higher than at Borussia Dortmund. However, it is not yet clear how much Club Brugge will have to part with in order to sign Campbell. Borussia Dortmund are looking for โฌ8m and were said to have rejected an offer of โฌ7m from fellow Bundesliga side Stuttgart in the past.
If Campbell does move to Club Brugge from Borussia Dortmund, he will be joining up with a new head coach in Ivan Leko. The Belgian side sacked Nicky Hayen recently and brought the Croatian back for a second spell in charge.
