Club Brugge cash in on Igor Thiago as Brentford sign striker to long-term contract

Igor Thiago will join Premier League side Brentford on a five-year deal at the end of the current season. The 22-year-old Brazilian forward only joined Club Brugge in the summer from Bulgarian side Ludogorets, but is now set to earn them a reported €37m with bonuses and a 10% sell-on clause. In 24 Pro League games this season, Thiago has scored an impressive 16 goals. Overall, he has played 40 times for Club Brugge in all competitions and scored 26 times.

Its yet again another incredibly shrewd piece of business from Club Brugge, who have made a huge profit on a player just months after signing him. Expectations are that Antonio Nusa will be the next player to earn the club a healthy sum, with Brentford and Tottenham having shown interest in the past.

Thiago will remain with the side until the end of the season as they look to mount a late title challenge. Club Brugge are currently third in the table, and are still alive in both the domestic cup and the Europa Conference League.
