Chelsea make contact with Ajax to sign Mohammed Kudus

Chelsea have made contact with Ajax over the signing of Mohammed Kudus, according to The Athletic. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is a top target for Chelsea, who are close to agreeing personal terms with the Ghana international. The Premier League club are yet to make an offer for Kudus.

Last season Mohammed Kudus scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances. The former Nordsjaelland talent was one of Ajax’s stand-out stars last season as the Dutch giants finished third in the Eredivisie. He’s currently valued at £40m.

Kudus is under contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena until 2025 but he rejected a new deal in April. It comes as no surprise that the midfielder is on Chelsea’s radar. Last month, Manchester United and Brighton were also reported to be interested in the player.

Ajax defender Calvin Bassey is also reportedly close to a move away from Amsterdam. According to Fabrizio Romano, The 23-year-old English defender has agreed to join Fulham in a deal worth €21m.
