Chelsea and Barcelona nearing agreement for Frenkie de Jong, player undecided

Chelsea and Barcelona have nearly reached an agreement for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong, and the player has yet to decide if he’d be willing to join the English club.

Due to their financial troubles, Barcelona have spent the summer trying to force De Jong to agree to a significant pay cut or sell him to another club.

Manchester United have been trying to sign him throughout, but the Dutchman hasn’t been interested in making such a move.

He has however reportedly been more open to joining Chelsea, who have also been linked, as they play Champions League football and are, in his eyes, a better team, and it now seems he’ll have the chance to sign for the London club.

According to The Times, Thomas Tuchel and co are nearing an agreement with Barcelona on a transfer fee, thought to be in the region of €70 million.

The British publication states that both clubs are now waiting for the midfielder to decide whether he’s willing to become a Chelsea player.
