Charleroi’s Togolese defender on trial with French second tier side

As reported by LDH, Charleroi defender Loïc Bessilé is currently on trial with Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque. The Togolese defender, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Eupen, has not made a single Pro League appearance this season. However, as the report suggests, he has been working hard in training to try and force his way into Felice Mazzu’s side. Now, with the transfer window coming up, he has been given permission to train with the French second tier side.

Dunkerque are currently 19th in Ligue 2, just two points ahead of bottom side Valenciennes FC. They have only won three of their 17 games, with four draws and 10 defeats. They could certainly do with some more defensive reinforcements, having conceded the most goals in the league with 29.

24-yera-old Bessilé began his career in France with Toulouse. He moved to Bordeaux in 2020 but only managed two appearances for the first team before joining Charleroi in 2021. He has made 35 appearances for the Zebras, scoring three goals. Bessilé has also been capped seven times by Togo.
