Les Zebras are just two wins away from securing a place in the UEFA Conference league play-off qualifiers, and could even confirm it this weekend, providing they beat Westerlo and other results go their way. Charleroi are in imperious form, having lost just one of their seven play-off matches. They are four points clear of their visitors, with just three matches remaining.
The impressive duo of Daan Heymans and Nikola Stulic have hit form at the perfect time, and are the driving force behind the club’s attempt to achieve European qualification for the first time since 2020. Last time out, they travelled to Sclessin and dispatched Standard Liège 1-0 in the Walloon Derby.
Manager Rik De Mil remains grounded and doesn’t want his side to get too carried away ahead of themselves. As reported by DH Sports, Anything can still happen. Three finals await us and we’ll be facing the three best teams in the European playoffs.”
However, Isaac Mbenza is likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the season, with De Mil saying, “Isaac felt something behind his thigh after the match at Standard. This Friday’s match comes too soon for him.”
However, despite De Mil’s warning about the remaining opponents they must face, Charleroi have won nine of their last ten matches against Westerlo. As for Westerlo, they sit second in the play-off table and travel to the Stade du Pays de Charleroi needing a win if they are to amount any form of pressure on their hosts during the run in.
Kick off is at 20:45 CET.
