Charleroi in discussions with Watford for young central defender

LDH are reporting that Charleroi are in discussions with Watford for the signing of Matthew Pollock. The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan with Abderdeen, has made just eight appearances for the Hornets this season in the Championship. Both sides are in discussions over a loan deal for the defender.

Pollock joined Watford back in the summer of 2021 from Grimsby. He made 58 appearances for the latter, scoring four goals. He has only made 13 appearances for Watford since joining, with another loan spell during the 2021/2022 campaign to Cheltenham. He made 39 appearances while on loan, scoring three goals.

Charleroi are in desperate need of some new reinforcements. With the league set to resume this weekend, the side are sat just above the relegation zone thanks to goal difference. They are level on points with recently promoted RWDM, with just five wins in 20 games. Their first game back will be away to current title holders Antwerp.
