Charleroi emerge as the team Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is interested in acquiring

Het Nieuwsblad and La Derniere Heure are reporting that Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is interested in acquiring Sporting Charleroi, who are looking for new investors. Mehdi Bayat is the current majority shareholder at the club, however the side have been looking for investment for a while. Fans have also grown tired of Bayat, with many of the recent protests targeting him and his ownership.

The side replaced manager Will Still with former Union and Anderlecht manager Felice Mazzu during the World Cup break. The Zebras sit in 12th place, with 19 points from their 16 games. Ironically, Mazzu’s first game in charge will be against Anderlecht, who he joined in the summer. Mazzu was relieved of his duties by the Brussels based club back in October.

This will be Mazzu’s second time in charge of Charleroi. Mazzu had a successful six years at the club between 2013 and 2019 before departing the Zebras for an ill fated time in charge of Genk.
