Charleroi beat Cercle Brugge to signing of Zan Rogelj from WSG Tirol

Charleroi have announced the signing of Slovenian left-back Zan Rogelj from WSG Tirol in Austria. The 23-year-old has signed a deal until 2027 and will likely replace the departing Joris Kayembe, who is set to join Genk. Rogelj has made three appearances for the Slovenian national team, having played at U19 and U21 level. Cercle Brugge were also interested in the defender, but it appears he has chosen Charleroi instead.

The 23-year-old began his career in Slovenia with ND Triglav, where he made 58 appearances and scored once. In the summer of 2020 he moved to Austria to join Tirol. He has gone on to make 94 appearances for the side, scoring seven goals.

Charleroi are currently planning for next season, having missed out on the play-offs and any chance of European football. They are hopeful that under Feilce Mazzu, they will have a chance of being a top play-off side next season. With Kayembe now replaced, attention will certainly turn to bringing in a new striker.
