Challenger Pro League state of play: Three teams remain unbeaten in the Belgian second tier

The Challenger Pro League, Belgiumโ€™s second professional football tier, has reached six games in the 2025/2026 season. So far three teams remain unbeaten, although only one has managed to win all six games and, remarkably, is yet to concede a singe goal. At the other end, two sides remain winless.

At the weekend Beveren made it six wins from six to sit top of the table with 18 points. The side have also scored 14 goals without conceding any at the other end. In past season, Beveren have started their campaigns slowly before a late run for the play-offs. The club have ambitions of returning to the Pro League but have come up short on multiple occasions. This season, they have put together a squad with plenty of top flight experience and have started out of the traps fastest. Results this weekend mean they have now opened up a two point gap to the side in second place. It is early days, but maybe Beveren are finally set to return to the Pro League.

In behind them are Kortrijk, one of the two sides relegated from the Pro League last season. Kortrijk have taken well to the Challenger Pro League and were one of the favourites for promotion this year .Thierry Ambrose leads the entire league with five goals, but the side dropped points for the first time this season at the weekend. Kortrijk drew 1-1 at home to Club NXT, the Club Brugge second team. While many players left in the summer, like Beveren Kortrijk have a squad packed full of Pro League experience with quality in key positions. We may well see the Challenger Pro League become a two horse race for number one spot between Kortrijk and Beveren as the season progresses.

In third we have another recently relegated side in Beerschot. They are also the only other unbeaten side with 14 points from their six games. After their dismal performance int he Pro League last season, they were not really expected to bounce straight back but so far they have been impressive. Whether or not they can maintain this for a full season remains to be seen, but so far they have been doing well and won 4-1 over Francs Borains at the weekend.

At the other end of the table, recently promoted Olympic Charleroi have had a disappointing start to life in the Challenger Pro League. The step up looks like a step too far, with no wins from five games, only two goals scored and an awful 18 goals conceded. Club NXT are just ahead of them, despite their 1-1 draw with high flying Kortrijk, they are also winless in five games.
