HLN are reporting that AS Monaco midfielder Edan Diop is set to join Cercle Brugge on loan for the season. The club have been in the principality for pre-season training and have returned with Diop having joined the squad. The brother of Sofiane Diop has been with AS Monaco for a number of years and will be able to gain more first team experience at the sides sister club Cercle.
The 20-year-old Frenchman, who is also eligible to play for Senegal and Morocco, has been part of the first team set up at AS Monaco since the age of 17, when former Club Brugge head coach Philippe Clement was in charge. During the 2022/2023 season he made eight appearances for the side, scoring once. The following season he played 12 games, but made no appearances for the first team during the 2024/2025 campaign.
Cercle Brugge are certainly in need of more reinforcements after a poor season last year. They have also just lost captain Thibo Somers to Antwerp.
