It appeared that Onur Cinel would be one of the few managers to survive the season in the Belgian Pro League. However, after a defeat at home to RAAL La Louviere ensured that Cercle Brugge would finish in the bottom four for the second season in a row, the club have decided to part company with him. Earlier this week, we put out an article looking at how things have gone wrong for Cercle Brugge, and Cinel will certainly be disappointed that none of his strikers were able to finish the chances his side were able to create.
Two names have already emerged as potential replacements. Former Zulte Waregem head coach Sven Vandenbroeck is, according to HLN, one of the names on the list. The other is Besnik Hasi, who almost joined Cercle Brugge last season before being offered the chance to return to Anderlecht. Both are out of work and therefore available to take over immediately. The club hope to have someone in charge before the final game of the regular season this weekend, giving that person time to settle in ahead of the relegation play-offs. Denderโs poor season should ensure Cercle Brugge are not in any real danger of being relegated this season, but it would be wise of them not to go in to the play-offs thinking they are already safe.
