Cercle Brugge agree a deal to sign young Sporting CP defender following loan spell

Cercle Brugge have announced that they have agreed a deal with Sporting CP for the transfer of Flavio Nazinho. The left-back, who was on loan with the Belgian club last season, has signed a deal with Cercle until 2028. Speaking about the signing, the club’s Sporting Director Rembert Vromant said ‘We are convinced that Nazinho, based on his matches and training, has the potential to take Cercle to the next level with his speed, excellent mentality and his versatility‘. Nazinho is certainly versatile, able to operate as a standard left-back or further forward as a left-midfielder or even winger.

The 20-year-old, who is eligible to represent both Portugal and Guinea-Bissau, played 23 times for Cercle last season, scoring one goal. Prior to joining the Belgian club he had made some appearances for the Sporting first team, including three times in the Champions League.

Given that Hugo Siquet is unlikely to return next season, Nazinho could see himself get even more opportunities to start for Cercle. The club are always happy to give young players a chance and it often does pay off. Last season Cercle had one of their best seasons in over a decade and will face Kilmarnock in Europa League qualifiers in July.
