Burnley sign talented Dutch defender Shurandy Sambo from PSV Eindhoven

Burnley have officially announced the signing of Shurandy Sambo, making the Dutch defender their first summer signing ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season. The 22-year-old right-back has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Turf Moor after leaving PSV Eindhoven.

Shurandy Sambo has spent his career rising through the ranks in PSV’s youth academy, before making his senior debut during the 2020/21 campaign. The Netherlands U21 international spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sparta Rotterdam, where he featured 36 times as Sparta finished sixth in the Eredivisie. His pace and ability to get up the pitch to help in attack caught the attention of several sides, but Burnley have won the race for a player that PSV were keen to keep hold of.

This could prove to be an excellent bit of business from the Championship outfit, as Sambo has shown that he’s full of potential. Having made just 11 appearances for PSV this season, Shurandy Sambo will be rearing to help Burnley achieve an instant return to the Premier League.
