Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Burnley’s owners are set to add Kortrijk to their portfolio of sides. The Kerel’s, currently owned by Vincent Tan, have been up for sale all summer. The Kaminski Group were presented as the sides new owners earlier in the transfer window, but after it materialised that they did not have the money they claimed to have, Tan pulled the plug and kept hold of the side. This set back their preparation for the new season by a number of weeks, which has resulted in Kortrijk being bottom of the league without any points from their opening four games.
Burnley will now be able to use the side as a means to develop young talent and bring players in who may not necessarily receive work permits in a post Brexit environment. For Kortrijk, hope will be that the new owners are willing to finance the side enough to keep them in the Belgian Pro League for this season. The club lost a number of key players over the summer and took a while to replace them.
Fans will now hope that they are able to keep hold of newly appointed club captain Abdelkahar Kadri, who has been the subject of interest from Ajax and Club Brugge.
