Burnley defender drops out of Dutch squad for crucial World Cup qualifier with Poland

Ronald Koemanโ€™s Dutch side will be without Burnley defender Quilindschy Hartman for their World Cup qualifier against Poland. The defender, who joined the Premier League side this summer, has fallen ill and left the camp before they travel to Warsaw. If the Dutch beat Poland without Hartman they will qualify for the World Cup. Even a draw should be enough for the side with Lithuania to come.

The 23-year-old Burnley defender left Feyenoord this summer to join the newly promoted side. Since making his senior debut for the Eredivisie club back in 2022 the defender made 83 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and providing 12 assists. So far he has made 11 appearances for Burnley in the Premier League, providing four assists. Hartman has started all 11 games he has played for Burnley this season.

Hartman made his debut for the Dutch national team back in 2004 and has gone on to win five caps, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Hartman will hope that if he can help Burnley avoid relegation from the Premier League this season he can book himself a ticket to the World Cup with Koemanโ€™s side next summer.
