Burak Yilmaz hoping that Wesley Sneijder joins Fortuna Sittard

Burak Yilmaz is hoping that Wesley Sneijder joins him at Fortuna Sittard as has been rumoured.

Fortuna Sittard are undergoing something of a revolution at the moment with their new Turkish owners bringing in Yilmaz and looking to make big changes off the pitch.

Specifically, they want the club to partner with five or six others from around the world as part of a consortium and would like Sneijder to lead such a project.

“Football has its own figureheads. As an outsider you are often greeted with suspicion, we have already noticed. That is also logical,” Atilla Aytekin told VI.

“In order to properly set up our project, we now want to set up a network of people from football. With someone like Wesley Sneijder, doors open much faster.

“Finding suitable clubs for our project, establishing overarching technical policy, such as in the field of youth training… Wesley could be one of the people who will link clubs together.”

Yilmaz knows Sneijder well having played with him at Galatasaray and is excited by the prospect of the Dutchman joining him.

“I hope Wesley comes to Fortuna soon, in which role I don’t care. He would be a fantastic signing,” he told AD.
