Brian Riemer admits that relegation is a possibility at Anderlecht

Anderlecht threw away a 2-1 lead against Zulte Waregem last night, losing 3-2 to the side that were second bottom in the league. The Brussels based side are just five points above the relegation zone, and after the game Danish head coach Brian Riemer was asked about the possibility of relegation. As reported by Het Nieuwsblad, Riemer said “I could answer no, but anything is possible in football. I personally don’t believe it will happen”.

Zinho Gano gave the away side an early lead, before former Schalke and Fortuna Dusseldorf striker Benito Raman grabbed a quick double just before half time to give the Mauves the lead. However, second half goals from Alioune Ndour and Alieu Fadera gave Zulte Waregem all three points. The win lifts them up one place to third bottom, just one point behind Eupen and safety.

There is plenty of unrest at Anderlecht, with top scorer Fabio Silva on his way out having had a disagreement with the newly appointed head coach. Young prospect Anouar Ait El Hadj. recently departed for league leaders Genk.
