Brian Brobbey: I should have come on ‘much earlier’ against Napoli

Brian Brobbey feels that he should have come on “much earlier” in Ajax’s defeat to Napoli.

Ajax are all but out of the Champions League after losing 4-2 to the Italian side in Naples, a week after beating thrashed by them 6-1 at home.

Brobbey did his best to get his team back into the match, winning a penalty shortly after coming on, but only being on the pitch for less than half an hour, he didn’t have time to do much else.

Speaking after the match, he stated that Alfred Schreuder should have brought him sooner, when the Dutch side were only one goal behind rather than two.

“Of course, I’ve been sitting on the bench a lot in recent weeks, but I thought that I should have come into this match much earlier. I think I should have been in it at 2-1,” he said to RTL.

Mohammed Kudus has been the man to keep Brobbey out of the team, and despite the fact that the Ghanian was poor against Napoli, the Dutchman understands why he’s been chosen.

“He has done very well in recent weeks and if he continues to score then I can’t change that,” Brobbey added.
