Brentford interested in PSV midfielder Joey Veerman

PSVโ€™s Joey Veerman is being monitored by Brentford, according to Rik Elfrink for the Eindhovens Dagblad. The Premier League club are currently considering whether to approach PSV or the midfielderโ€™s management.

The Eindhoven club arenโ€™t necessarily โ€œlooking forward to sellingโ€ Veerman, Elfrink says. Therefore, Brentford would have to fork out โ‚ฌ30 million for the player, whose contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Veerman is considered a key player in the current squad. Brentford, who also strengthened their squad earlier this summer with the signing of Antoni Milambo from Feyenoord, are reportedly not fazed by PSVโ€™s asking price.

The Premier League club, who finished 10th last season, are now assessing the next step. They will either submit an initial offer to PSV or approach Veermanโ€™s entourage first, according to sources in England.

Whether Veerman is open to a move to England himself remains unclear. Itโ€™s known that he was eager to make a move last year, but clubs made no approaches to secure him after a disappointing European Championship.

Fiorentina, in addition to Brentford, are also reportedly keeping an eye on Veerman. However, according to Elfrink, there hasnโ€™t been a โ€œhigh bidโ€ yet.

PSV will prefer to keep Veerman. Theyโ€™ve already cashed in on the sales of Johan Bakayoko, Malik Tillman, and Noa Lang. Should negotiations improve, PSV will look for a replacement. Gustavo Hamer (Sheffield United) is high on their list.
