Borussia Mönchengladbach loanee ruled out of action for the remainder of the season due to cruciate ligament injury

NEC Nijmegen have confirmed that Yvandro Borges Sanches will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his cruciate ligament in Tuesday’s clash with Fortuna Sittard. The 19-year-old winger joined NEC on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach in January, but his spell has been cut short due to the serious setback.

Yvandro Borges Sanches was forced off in the 83rd minute of Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Fortuna. After examination in hospital, the Luxembourg international discovered that he had torn his cruciate ligament. The teenage talent has played just eight times in the Eredivisie this season and three times in the KNVB Cup. He provided the crucial assist during extra-time in NEC’s semi-final cup clash with Cambuur, sending them through to the final where they’ll face Feyenoord.

Borges Sanches will return to Borussia Mönchengladbach where he’ll recieve treatment for the injury. NEC are also without Lasse Schöne, Bart van Rooij and Dirk Proper for this weekends derby with Vitesse. Dutch defender Calvin Verdonk also misses out due to suspension.
