Boost for Anderlecht as young star returns after eight months out

HLN are reporting that young Anderlecht talent Yari Verschaeren is back in training with the side. The 22-year-old attacker has been injured since March anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against OH Leuven. Eight months later, he is back in training and could even return for the cup match against rivals Standard Liege.

The midfielder started 26 of the sides 28 games last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists. These numbers were down from the previous year, where he had scored seven goals and provided four assists. Verschaeren has always been considered as the next big talent to come out of Anderlecht, with many expecting him to break through. However, injuries have continued to set him back. There is hope that, with a new contract in place, he can steer clear of the treatment room and begin to realise his potential. He has already won seven caps for the Belgian national team, with one goal.

Anderlecht are currently second in the table, with eight wins, three draws and two defeats from 13 games. The side are four points behind city rivals Union St Gilloise.
