Bologna complete the signing of Sam Beukema from AZ Alkmaar

AZ Alkmaar defender Sam Beukema will continue his career at Bologna, according to Voetbal International. The 24-year-old Dutch defender has officially signed for the Serie A club on a long-term contract.

Beukema has just experienced a super season with AZ Alkmaar. The former Go Ahead Eagles centre-back featured 26 times in the Eredivisie last season AZ finished in fourth place. The defender also featured in 11 Europa Conference League games as AZ reached the semi-final of the competition.

Sam Beukema will become the next Dutchman to have played for Bologna, after Jerdy Schouten, Joshua Zirkzee and Sydney van Hooijdonk. Former PSG and Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta is currently the head coach of Bologna. Last season they finished ninth in Serie A.

Beukema joins the club after two seasons at AZ. He made a total of 81 appearances and was still in contract until 2026. Bologna have been interested in the player for some time now, and they’ve finally got their man.
