Blow for Standard Liege as midfielder suffers elbow fracture

Standard Liege have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Casper Nielsen will be out for between six to eight weeks. The midfielder suffered a fractured elbow during the 2-0 defeat to local rivals Charleroi at the weekend. Nielsen had been set to share the pitch with an old acquaintance in Teddy Teuma, who had recently joined, however the reunion that many were looking forward to will have to wait until Nielsen is fit again.

Unfortunately for the former Union St Gilloise and Club Brugge midfielder, his Standard Liege career hasnโ€™t really gotten going since making the move last summer. Nielsen has played 17 games, scoring twice for Standard Liege, but he has not looked like the player he once was. This injury will certainly set him back, and Standard Liege had brought him in hoping he could have a big impact. They will be hopeful that Teuma can now step in and have the impact that many predict he could have.
