Blow for Standard Liege as captain set to be sidelined for the remainder of the year

HLN are reporting that Standard Liege are set to be without their club captain Marlon Fossey for the rest of 2025. The American full-back suffered a torn muscle and is set to be out for six to eight weeks. This is certainly a blow not just for Standard Liege but also for Fossey. With a World Cup on home soil in the summer, the 27-year-old would have been hoping to put in some good performances in the Belgian Pro League to push for a place in the USMNT squad for the tournament.

Fossey joined Standard Liege from Fulham back in the summer transfer window of 2022. Fossey only made one appearance for Fulham during his time in West London, spending time out on loan at both Shrewsbury Town and Bolton Wanderers. Since joining Standard Liege Fossey has been one of the sides key players and top performers, making 112 appearances and scoring six goals. Last season he played 41 times for the side, the most in his career. During his now four years with the club, Fossey has also provided five assists from full-back.
