Blow for Cercle Brugge as key young defender suffers another injury setback

Cercle Brugge have announced that young defender Christiaan Ravych has suffered another injury and will be out for the foreseeable future. This is a frustrating blow for both club and player, as the 21-year-old only returned to first team action last weekend against Antwerp. Ravych only came on in the 73rd minute as the side lost 3-1 to the defending champions.

Cercle Brugge rate the young defender highly and under Miron Muslic he had become a regular starter alongside Jesper Daaland in central defence. Since making his debut in 2022, the defender has played 46 games and scored one goal. He has also been called up to the Belgian U21 team after impressing in the Pro League.

Cercle Brugge are currently on course for one of their most successful seasons in recent years. The side are in seventh place, just two points outside of the top six and thus the championship play-offs. They will have to deal without Ravych when they travel to OH Leuven on Saturday afternoon.
