Blow for Anderlecht as Yari Verschaeren set to be out for six months

Anderlecht were dealt a huge blow this weekend as it has been revealed that the injury sustained by Yari Verschaeren could see him out for six months. As reported by Het Nieuwsblad, the injury that forced the player to come off during his sides 2-0 victory over OH Leuven will certainly see him miss the rest of the season, and potentially the start of the next.

Verschaeren, who Anderlecht head coach Brian Riemer had been comparing to Luka Modric in recent weeks, has had his fair share of injuries during his short career. The 21-year-old had looked like he was starting to realise the potential that many see in him under Riemer, and this injury is certainly a frustrating set-back for both player and club.

Furthermore, the young midfielder is entering the final year of his contract. How this injury impacts that is yet to be seen, but for a player who could have interested a number of foreign sides, this will certainly be a huge set back.
