Besiktas keen on signing Sint Truidenโ€™s highly rated Japanese midfielder

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Turkish giants Besiktas are keen on signing Joel Chima Fujita from Sint Truiden. The player is said to be keen on the move to Istanbul with a proposal that is almost too good to refuse on the table for the player. Tavolieri reports that the Turkish club are now in discussion with the Canaries about a transfer for Fujita. For the player, a move to a side the size of Besiktas is a no brainer, especially if he wants to play for Japan at the World Cup next summer.

Losing Fujita would certainly be a big blow for Sint Truiden. The Japanese midfielder is a key player in central areas defensively and has performed well since making the move to the club from Yokohama Marinos back in 2023. Since then, Fujita has played 63 games for the club and scored once. While prone to a yellow card, his all action style in central areas is crucial for sides that want to win the ball back in midfield and transition quickly to attack. Compared to other players in his position in Belgium, Fujita won more defensive actions than 88% of his fellow defensive midfielders.
