Besiktas join Sunderland and Toulouse in tracking Heerenveen midfielder Thom Haye

Besiktas have become the latest side to show interest in Heerenveen midfielder Thom Haye, according to Voetbal International. The 28-year-old has been one of Heerenveen’s standout stars this season as the club finished eighth in the Eredivisie, creeping into the Europa Conference League playoffs.

On Sunday, Haye was a starter in the Heerenveen squad that lost 4-0 (6-1 on aggregate) to FC Twente. Despite the dismal scoreline, Haye was among the few Heerenveen players who performed well. A delegation from Turkish giants, Besiktas, was in attendance in Enschede to watch the Dutchman play. Toulouse and Sunderland are also interested in the former AZ Alkmaar defensive midfielder.

Haye recently revealed to VI that he would like to leave the club this summer. If Besiktas make a move for the midfielder, they’ll have to offer a fee seeing as though he still has a year remaining on his contract. Haye previously played for Willem II, ADO Den Haag, NAC Breda and Lecce in Serie B. This season he’s featured 36 times in all competitions for Heerenveen.
