Belgium given tough Nations League group for upcoming season

Belgium will face Italy, France and Israel in their Nations League Group A2 for the 2024/2025 season. Last time around, Belgium faced Netherlands, Poland and Wales in Group A4, finishing second behind their border rivals. Italy had a successful Nations League campaign last time out, winning Group A3 ahead of Hungary, Germany and England.

France finished third in their group A1, avoiding relegation to League B but finishing behind Denmark and Croatia. ISarel were promoted from the second tier of the Nations League. They won from a group with Iceland, Albania and Russia, with the latter being banned from the tournament.

The tournament has changed format for the upcoming tournament. Rather than just the group winners playing the semi-finals, there will now be quarter-finals between the group winners and the runners up. The league phase will begin at the beginning of September, with the finals taking place from March to June.
