Belgian pundits full of praise for Club Bruggeโ€™s Romeo Vermant: โ€œHis execution is perfectโ€

Starting off a fine 3-1 away win, Romeo Vermant put Club Brugge ahead against Rangers after just three minutes in the Champions League. It was a goal that, according to analysts in the VTM studio, he โ€œmade look easy.โ€

Although a misunderstanding between defender Nasser Djiga and goalkeeper Jack Butland led to Club Bruggeโ€™s early 0-1 lead, Romeo Vermantโ€™s finishing was remarkably impressive. โ€œThis is already his second important goal,โ€ Marc Degryse claimed. โ€œGood for him.โ€

Degryse added further context after Club Brugge darted out into an early lead: โ€œThe match has barely been going on for two minutes, youโ€™re not really in the game yet. But Vermant doesnโ€™t hesitate, thatโ€™s impressive, and his execution is perfect.โ€

โ€œIf you take the ball and wait a little longer, youโ€™re in trouble. Then you have to start dribbling past the goalkeeper. But he lays it off with great feeling.โ€

โ€œThat was indeed the perfect execution,โ€ added Frank Boeckx. โ€œHe makes this goal look easy. You can start to doubt it at a moment like that, but he does it with great confidence. Vermant is a striker who is clinical in and around the box.โ€

There have been some doubts surrounding Vermant in recent weeks. โ€œBut this will be good for him,โ€ says Degryse. โ€œHe already scored against Salzburg. Those are two very important goals. Good for him.โ€
